Makeup for Holidays

I want to give my mom a beauty makeover for a XMAS present. Does this sound retarded? I am already thinking of gifts in advance and since I'm applying to makeup artist school, I figured it would be a wonderful start/experiment. So we'll see what happens. She needs a new look... I think she'd be flattered.
